  2. Skinny jeans pairs with your favorite casual t-shirt and dark jacket. make it fun with colorful tennis shoes!
  3. Colorful sundress and strappy sandals is always a great choice for a classic summer look.
  4. Simple suit styled dress and paired with some boots and a matching hat and coordinating scarf will provide several looks in one outfit.
  5. Rompers are simple and oh so adorable!TIP: Always include some long sleeves in your outfits as they always make arms look more slim.

Here are a couple of our senior girls, Kaitlyn and Lauren in shorts rompers. Solid or print…with sandals or combat boots. We love it!

LOOKING BACK AT AN OLD FRIEND- VINTAGE – SENIOR PICTURES- INDIANAPOLIS

I believe it was back in the fall of 2006 when I became the proud owner of this really great antique Duncan Phyfe sofa. I had been looking around for just the right vintage piece to add that special touch to my senior portraits. I was looking in antique stores, swap shops, garage and tag sales to no avail.  I like to think this one found me because it came to be when I wasn’t really even looking. Duncan, came tattered and torn and full of this vintage character that I just die for. It went right to work as one of my favorite things! It has been  the most recognized and asked for prop I had ever owned and with good reason! It has been with me through all these years of seniors, been sat on in jeans and leather jackets, more prom dresses than you can count, not to mention weather. Sometimes it was brought inside but more often than not this work horse stayed out in rain, snow sleet and hail. I know, I know, poor thing would have lasted much longer had I taken care of it…. but also, it weighed a ton so most of the time it sat out in the back field of the Studio Backlot.

So now we know it takes about 6 years for a couch to fully rot into an unusable condition. I thought a photo album of “Duncan’s Seniors” was in order now that it has been retired as a couch… but never fear, we may see a little bit of him this up coming season as I cannot bear to completely let him go just yet.

WHAT TO WEAR WEDNESDAY- INDIANAPOLIS SENIOR PICTURES

This weeks What to Wear Wednesday features six awesome outfit ideas.  Once clients get their session date squared away and on the calendar, one of he first things they ask, “Now, what should I wear?”. So we started  a style guide of suggestions to give you a variety of textures and looks to ensure you have the best senior pictures possible. These are not linked to any particular store for purchase but set up just to give you some ideas that you can find online, in your favorite boutique or department stores. There is no need to go out and buy all new clothes… I bet you have allot of similar staple clothing items in that over full closet right there in your room! Am I right? Well, at least on the over full part!  When planning out your outfits you want to plan each one from the tippy top of your head to the bottoms of your feet and all the way out to your finger tips.
Let’s take a look at the STYLE BOARD below:

  • Jumper and Rompers are HOT this spring! I love the soft subtle palette of colors in this one. This small- medium print is a good choice, but maybe you have one in denim or khaki. This would look great in the field with the tall grasses and beautiful sun rays streaming through your hair.
  • Pull your very favorite things out, you know the ones.. the comfy jeans and your favorite t-shirt.. now grab your leather jacket, scarf and combat boots and we have a totally rockin’ outfit with lots of style and flexibility.
  • A splash of color is always good and colored jeans are a popular trend from LA to NYC. Paired with a light breezy top and we’ve got a great look for our loading dock area or barn.
  • Coats, Sweaters and jackets.. especially fur trimmed hooded ones are always a favorite of mine to see coming out of the dressing room! Pair them up with fun fabulous fur or leather boots and we are ready to go!
  • A simple dress with scarf are a strong classic look for the tin walls area, the barn or maybe the willow tree area of the backlot.
  • Your cheer or sport uniform is a great way to put your personal stamp on your images… i know some of my favorite HS memories are from cheerleading and volleyball.Accessories are the finishing touch to a great outfit. Make sure you bring jewelry, scarves, shoes, boots, jackets, hats… anything that really takes your photo shoot to the next level.
